Bladder infection

Bladder infection symptoms and treatment

A bladder infection is a bacterial infection that is known to afflict the urinary bladder of a person. The problem is caused when due to several reasons bacteria creeps into the bladder of a person. From here it may even spread towards the urinary tract and cause severe burning sensation. While the problem afflicts both men and women, the women seem to be targeted much more often. Such an infection is also known as Cystitis and must be treated immediately or else can spread to the kidneys too and cause renal failure. The E coli bacterium is known to cause the infection and does not restrict itself to the bladder only.

When seeking bladder infection treatment, several options are available. However, the first thing to do is undergo a urine test, so as to be able to indentify the bacteria that has caused the problem. Almost all physicians advise increasing the intake of water so that the bacteria can be washed out by frequently urinating. Cranberry juice is also known to work rather well. Antibiotics are of course usually prescribed but one must keep in mind that maintaining a good probiotic intake will help drastically. Many women react to antibiotics and the end result is a yeast infection. Indeed curing one problem and ending up with another is creating a vicious cycle.

There are several bladder infection causes that help the bacteria to reach the bladder area. While in some cases sexual intercourse could push the bacteria into the bladder, in other cases it could simply be bubble baths or unhygienic underwear that could trigger the problem.

Bladder infections require a clearance test too. So, once the medication dosage has been completed a re test is done to confirm that the urine is free of pus cells.

Feeling pressure on the bladder and wanting to relieve your self frequently is one of the most common bladder infection symptoms.

It is very important to take your bladder infection seriously and seek treatment for it thoroughly, since if untreated the problem could aggregate beyond control.
